Careers for Veterans
Veterans are a very unique and skilled group of individuals. Veterans have already learned specific job tasks while they were in the military. We try to use your job skills as a foundation piece in helping you move forward with acquiring vocational education and training.
We have listed below some of the most versatile jobs for vets there is in today’s job market;
Operations Manager
Usually requires a 4-year degree but the military experience is a bonus. Job skills include providing efficient and effective day-to-day operations for companies.
Computer Information Systems Manager
Usually requires a 4-year degree but the military experience is a bonus. Job skills include overseeing IT computer technology operations for companies.
Mechanics, Installers, and Repairers
Providing mechanical services for any company’s fleet of cars. Usually requires a GED or H.S. Diploma and military experience.
HVAC
Install, fix and/or maintain equipment, fixtures, and systems in companies and homes. Usually requires vocational training and certification.
Trade Schools for Veterans
There are many trade schools for veterans. Many trade schools have specialized vocational classes and training available for veterans.
The military lists ten vocational and trade skills for veterans with many growth possibilities. They include some of the below;
- HVAC
- Carpentry
- Cosmetology
- Medical Assistant
- Electrician Training
- Massage Therapy
- Carpenter
- Designer in jewelry or floral
- Mechanic or Auto Technician
- Veterinarian Assistant
Each of the above fields offers skills many veterans have experience or knowledge of.
These vocational or trade school fields represent some of the shortest paths you can take in securing your future. Most trade schools have programs in a variety of fields. Many have certifications or Associate of Applied Science Degrees you get in two years or less.
Trade Schools
Veterans who want to receive schooling or train in a vocational trade field can select from various VA-approved trade schools.
- According to the NSF, Almost half (44%) of all veterans earn an associate’s degree or vocational certification.
- Most veterans complete their schooling and training before their benefits end.
- According to the US Department Of Veterans Affairs, Veterans attending trade school have job growth rates of over 14% between 2018-2024.
Visit Any veteran student who graduates with an associate’s Degree or more will have the G.I. Bill® pays for the following;
Tuition and Fees for an Associate’s Degree or more
Once the Vet has been approved by the VA, tuition and fees may be paid to the school by the VA. At less than 100 percent tier school, coverage is by the tiered percentage.
Monthly Housing Allowance
The amount depends on the zip code.

Any veteran student who graduates from a Vocational or Trade School may qualify for the following;
