(Anaheim, CALIFORNIA)—InterCoast Colleges is pleased to announce the institution is now offering two NATE certification examinations for students taking the HVAC Program. The school is currently allowing students to sit for both the HVAC Support Technician test and the Ready to Work certification exam. InterCoast Colleges will be providing both examinations at the following campus locations: Riverside, Fairfield, Rancho Cordova, Anaheim, and West Covina.

With NATE being the largest and most widely recognized certification organization for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration technicians, contractors, manufacturers, distributors and educators across the industry partner with NATE to develop knowledgeable, competent HVAC technicians. Designed for early career technicians with 6 months to one year of experience, the NATE HVAC Support Technician certification exam tests a candidate’s general knowledge and HVAC specific knowledge in the areas of safety, tools, heat transfer, comfort, basic science, basic electrical, installation, planned maintenance, system components, and design considerations.
For alumni who successfully become employed in the HVAC field within 90 days of graduation, and maintains that employment for at least 90 days, and successfully files all required placement documents and forms with the school, InterCoast will reimburse the graduate for the cost of the NATE HVAC Support Technician Certification Exam, up to $75, provided graduate takes and passes the examination within one year of graduation.
NATE’s Ready to Work certification exam tests a candidate’s knowledge of the fundamental job knowledge and skills for an entry-level technician in the areas of component identification, tools, measurements, electrical safety, general safety, and basic heat transfer. It is designed for entry-level technicians in the HVAC industry and tests knowledge of components, tools, unit measurements, electrical safety, basic heat transfer, and general safety.
HVAC Technician students at InterCoast are allowed to sit for the NATE Ready to Work Exam. InterCoast will pay for the student’s first attempt on the exam, as long as the student takes the proctored examination prior to graduation. Students who do not pass the examination on the first try may take the examination for a test fee of $35, which is the student’s responsibility. While successful completion of the exam is not required for graduation, achieving a passing score is required to earn the Ready to Work certificate.
