New schedules combine once a week, of campus-based, hands-on lab sessions with online education, InterCoast Colleges reports

InterCoast Colleges announced its new hybrid learning schedules for HVAC and electrical training. Hybrid, also known as blended learning, combines multiple teaching models to streamline education and better suit the needs of students.

“We’re proud to announce that we are now enrolling students in our new HVAC technician and electrical training blended learning certificate programs,” said InterCoast Colleges President Geeta Brown. “Online education has proved a boon to many students, but there is sometimes no substitute for hands-on experience. Our new hybrid learning programs combine the best that online education and lab-based, on-campus sessions have to offer. We’re confident that these new programs are going to help many students go on to rewarding, satisfying careers.”

On-Campus

Enrollees in the new InterCoast Colleges HVAC and Electrical Hybrid Programs will hone their hands-on skills once each week at labs on campus, while also participating in online courses, discussions, and simulation work online when their schedules allow. The new programs are designed to provide more streamlined educational opportunities for students since a lack of time is frequently identified as a barrier to learning.

A 2010 report by the United States Department of Education stated that “in studies contrasting blends of online and face-to-face instruction with conventional face-to-face classes, blended instruction has been more effective.” InterCoast Colleges educators have found that blended programs help students “live their learning,” with educational engagement happening more frequently throughout the week, instead of being concentrated into a couple of isolated classroom sessions.

The new blended learning programs are also designed to account for the fact that every student learns differently. The courses included a variety of teaching methods that accommodate visual, auditory, and kinetic learners, while still providing a great deal of scheduling flexibility.

The new blended learning programs are also designed to account for the fact that every student learns differently. The courses included a variety of teaching methods that accommodate visual, auditory, and kinetic learners, while still providing a great deal of scheduling flexibility.

As a result, InterCoast Colleges expects that the new blended learning schedule will open up entirely new opportunities for many students. With there being many high-paying jobs available for qualified electricians and HVAC technicians, the new schedules are expected to be especially popular.

All InterCoast Colleges vocational programs are taught by experienced, highly trained faculty members and designed to provide everything students need to succeed in their chosen careers. The new blended learning schedules are meant to be accessible even to those with jobs and other commitments.
